Product launch: Methanol test for Cedex® Bio and Cedex® Bio HT Analyzers
New Cedex® assay for determination of methanol in yeast
New kits are now available for your Cedex® Bio and Cedex® Bio HT Analyzers, specifically designed for in-process control during the production of recombinant enzymes/proteins using Pichia expression.
Furthermore, the assay can be used for determination of methanol in various aqueous solutions with high sensitivity and high specificity even in presence of other alcohols.
Background
For production of industrial enzymes, the yeast Pichia pastoris is a well established protein expression system, used for the production of enzymes/proteins for analytical test kits, vaccines and protein therapeutics, food additives and food processing aids, and various technical purposes (e.g. washing powder).
Which role does methanol play?
Pichia culture processing requires the frequent addition of the appropriate amount of methanol, to boost the protein expression, but never exceed a toxic level. Therefore, continuous control of the methanol concentration in the culture is essential for the outcome.
Needs in biopharmaceutical manufacturing
Accurate results from an automated method for methanol determination that requires minimal manual interaction.
